In case of “conversion from direct to universal tex system”:
In the direct system, the count is used for the measurement of weight per unit length of yarn where length is considered as constant. Here we will know about count conversation calculation of yarn from direct and indirect system to universal tex system.
Direct system | Universal Tex system |
Silk, Denier (Metric) | 0.1111 |
Silk Dram | 1.938 |
Jute, spindle | 34.45 |
Flax | 34.45 |
Woolen, Aberdeen | 34.45 |
American, Grain | 3.543 |
To determine the equivalent count of any one system in the first vertical column into any system in the top horizontal column, multiply the known count by the conversion factor. The product is the equivalent count in the required system.
Required count = Known count × conversion factor.
Count Conversation Calculation of Yarn from Direct & Indirect System to Universal Tex System
Example 01:
What is the equivalent count of 150 denier (metric) in tex system?
Solution:
From the above table, we find that the conversion factor is 0.111
Therefore,
Required count = 150 × 0.111
= 16.665 tex.
So, 150 denier (metric) in tex system is 16.665 tex.
Example 02:
What is the equivalent count of 40 jute in tex system?
Solution:
From the above table, we find that the conversion factor is 34.45
Therefore,
Required count = 40 × 34.45
= 1378 tex.
So, the equivalent count of 40 jute in tex system is 1378 tex.
In case of “conversion from indirect to universal tex system”:
An indirect system of measuring count t is used for the measurement of length per unit weight of yarn where weight is considered to be constant.
Indirect system | Universal tex system |
Cotton (English) | 590.5 |
Spun silk and spun rayon staples | 590.5 |
Metric | 1000 |
Linen (wet spun) | 1653 |
worsted | 885.8 |
Woolen Yorkshire skein | 1938 |
Alloa | 1033 |
Hawick | 2687 |
To convert the known count of any system in the first vertical column to any system in the top horizontal column, divide the conversion factor by the known count. The quotient is the count in the required system.
Required count,
…….Conversion factor
= ………………………………
……….Known count
Example 01:
Convert 50s cotton into tex system.
Solution:
From the above table, we find that the conversion factor is 590.5
Therefore,
Required count,
…….Conversion factor
= ………………………………
……….Known count
…….590.5
= …………….
………50
= 11.8 tex
So, 50s cotton into tex system is 11.8 tex.
Example 02:
Convert 45s linen into tex system.
Solution:
From the above table, we find that the conversion factor is 1653
Therefore,
Required count,
…..Conversion factor
= ……………………………
……..Known count
……1653
= ………….
…….45
= 36.73 tex.
So, 45s linen into tex system is 36.73 tex.
